About Paris

Famously beautiful, Paris is one of Europe’s most enchanting cities. It’s divided up into 20 arrondissements, each with its own unique character. From the artsy Montmartre to the elegant Saint-Germain-des-Prés, exploring the city’s quartiers is all part of the fun. Wherever you stay, starting your day with a café au lait and a buttery croissant is considered a Parisian rite of passage.

Things to do

From the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe, Paris is laced with iconic architecture. Don’t miss the gargoyles of Notre Dame cathedral, the lofty domes of the Sacré-Coeur basilica and the Gothic grandeur of Sainte-Chapelle.

Perched on the left banks of the Seine, the Latin Quarter serves up a taste of bohemian Paris. Loved by students and artists alike, its cobble streets are lined with a colourful mix of bars, cafes and patisseries.

Parisians are famously chic, which makes the city a mecca for shopaholics. Splurge on luxury brands on the glamorous Champs-Élysées, or pick up treasures at the city’s flea markets, vintage shops and secondhand bookstores.

From Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh to Dalí, Renoir and Rodin, Paris is home to some of the world’s most famous artists. Touch base with Mona Lisa at the Louvre, or visit offbeat galleries like the Musée d’Orsay and Centre Pompidou.

Getting around

Paris is powered by one of the oldest and most efficient metro systems in the world. More than 300 stations dot the city, which means all you need to do is pick up a map. You can also take advantage of local buses, RER overland trains and plenty of taxis. With its elegant avenues, wide boulevards and spacious squares, Paris is made for strolling, while bikes are a great way to get from A to B.
